Transferring a domain sounds like the sort of thing that takes a website offline for a day. Done in the right order it changes nothing a visitor can see — the DNS is copied and verified before the transfer is even requested, so your site keeps loading and your mail keeps arriving the whole way through.

Before You Start
Six things that decide how fast this goes.
Almost every stalled transfer stalls on one of these, and every one of them is easier to sort out before we begin than halfway through.
Access To The Current Registrar
A login, or somebody at the business who has one. If nobody knows where the domain is held, tell us the name and we'll find the provider from the public record.
The Domain Unlocked
Most registrars ship domains locked against transfer. It's a switch in their control panel — we'll ask them on your behalf if you'd rather not.
An Authorisation Code
The EPP or auth code your current provider issues on request. It proves the move is authorised. A .co.za works differently and doesn't need one.
A Reachable Admin Address
The approval email goes to the address on the domain's record. If that mailbox is dead or belongs to a developer you've parted ways with, fix it first.
A Domain Over 60 Days Old
Registry rules block a transfer within 60 days of registration, or of a previous transfer. If yours is inside that window we'll diarise it and move it the day it clears.
Your Current DNS Records
We read them from the live domain and rebuild them on our side before anything moves — nothing to send us, just don't change them mid-transfer.
How The Move Goes

The only thing we can't do on your behalf is click the approval — the registry sends that to you, by design.
01. We Copy What's There
Every live DNS record is read off the current setup and rebuilt on our side, then checked against the original. Nothing is requested until this matches.
02. You Approve The Move
The registry emails the address on the domain record. One click from you is the whole approval — we can't and shouldn't do this part for you.
03. The Registry Switches It
Five to seven days for a .com, one to two for a .co.za, mostly spent waiting on the losing registrar. Your site and mail are untouched throughout.
04. We Close The Old Account
Once it lands we confirm every record resolves, hand you the new ownership details, and tell you exactly what to cancel at the old provider.

Before you move it.
Transfer fees are listed per extension on the pricing page. A .co.za moves free; the gTLDs add a year to the domain rather than charging for the move.
Will my website or email go down?
No. A transfer moves who bills and manages the domain, not where it points. Because we copy and verify the DNS before requesting the move, the records answer identically before, during and after — there's no gap for anything to drop into.
Do I lose the time I've already paid for?
No. Whatever is left on the domain comes with it. For .com, .net and .org the transfer fee adds a further year on top of that remaining time, so you're buying a year, not paying a moving charge.
My current provider won't give me the authorisation code.
They're required to release it to the registrant on request, and stalling is a common enough tactic that we have a script for it. Send us what they've said and chasing them becomes our job — it usually takes one firmly worded email quoting the registry's own rules.
How is a .co.za different?
It runs on the registry's own transfer process rather than an authorisation code, and it's faster — often done inside two working days. We handle both the same way from your side: you approve it, we do the rest.
What if I can't reach anyone at my old provider at all?
There's still a route. If the business has gone quiet or closed, the registry has a dispute and recovery process for the registrant on record. Bring us proof you own the name and we'll take it up with them — it's slower than a normal transfer, but it works.
Can you transfer several domains at once?
Yes, and it's less work than doing them one at a time. Send us the list and we'll audit which are locked, which are inside the 60-day window and which are due to expire, then move them in a batch.
